For the past five years I worked across the whole software stack of an IoT product line: connected hardware in the field, and a great deal of software in and around it. I started in firmware, then led the mobile app, and finished as the senior full-stack engineer on the platform. The software team was small and got smaller over those years, and by the end I was one of the last people holding the whole stack together: mobile app, firmware, backend, fleet monitoring, CI/CD, and the internal tools. Whatever broke, wherever it was in the system, I was one of the people who could fix it.

That was the indoor-farming IoT space. Before it I worked in autonomous vehicles and robotics, and before that I was the CTO of an early-stage biotech startup. Three different industries with the same shape underneath: hardware out in the world, and software that has to keep it working.

If you’re a founder who built something real, often with AI assistance, and now has to keep it running for customers, that’s a situation I know from the inside. I know what it’s like to be the person everything depends on, and I know what has to be true about a system for that to be survivable.

Most of my work involves your production systems and your credentials, so I try to be easy to trust. I ask for the least access the job needs, keep it in a password manager, work from accounts you control, and hand everything back with a written record when we’re done. I build with agentic AI tooling, and I’ve used it to put production systems in front of real users. It’s a large part of how one person does the work of a small team. Every change the tools produce goes through my review before it reaches your repository, and the decisions that matter come with a written rationale, so you can see why something was done as well as what. The AI policy spells out the commitments.

I have an M.S. in Systems Engineering from George Washington University, which left me with a stubborn habit of writing down requirements and interfaces before touching anything, and a Self-Driving Car Engineer Nanodegree from Udacity, earned just before a stretch spent building autonomous robots.
